Whenever we have egg rolls (recipe here), sweet and sour chicken (recipe here) or orange chicken this is the recipe I use. It is unbelievably easy and fast to make! And is loved by the whole family! To me that is a win win!

The ingredients you need:

Sauce. You are going to need soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic and ground pepper to make the sauce. This sauce is rich and delicious and will make your taste buds smile!

Chow Mein noodles: Now when it comes to the noodles, I see a lot of recipes use Yakisoba noodles. I have a hard time finding them at my local grocery store. The noodles I use, and honestly like better are Ka ‘Me Stir Fry Hokkien Noodles. I like the texture and size in this recipe and I can always find them at Walmart.

Oil. Vegetable oil, olive oil, Canola oil, etc….

Celery. This vegetable gives this recipe that fresh taste that you need to mimic this iconic dish.

Onion. yellow or white will work.

Cabbage.

Time to prepare:

Start by making the sauce. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic and ground pepper to taste. Mix together with a fork or whisk and set aside.

Open the noodle packages and rinse well. I put mine in a strainer and rinse with cold water. Use your hands or tongs and gently move around to rinse well with water. Drain and set aside.

Slice the celery diagonally, and thinly slice the onions. Add to a preheated pan with oil and sauté for 2 minutes or until the onions start to become soft and transparent.

While that is sautéing chop the cabbage and add to the pan and sauté an additional minute.

Add the noodles and soy sauce mixture to the pan and continue cooking for another 3 minutes.

And that’s it! The prep takes the longest amount of time. I am always surprised by how fast it cooks once all thrown together. Enjoy this with as a side to your favorite meal. We love this with orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken and egg rolls. It pairs perfectly!! Give this one a try and let me know what you think!!
