No Cook Meal

If you’re looking to create a delicious footlong sub without the hassle of cooking, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. By utilizing fresh ingredients that require no cooking, you can whip up a flavorful sub in no time. Let’s explore this simple yet satisfying no-cook meal that will elevate your footlong sub experience without the need for turning on the stove.

Saving Money on Sub Ingredients

When it comes to building a flavor-packed footlong sub for less, there are some savvy tips for saving money on ingredients that can help you stay within budget while still enjoying a delicious meal. A money-saving strategy I always do is to opt for generic or store-brand items instead of name brands, which can often be just as tasty at a lower cost. Walmart’s Great Value is my go to for saving money. I explain that in my 20+ ways to save money on groceries post, check that out here. Additionally, keeping an eye out for sales and coupons at your local grocery store can also help you save on ingredients for your next footlong sub creation. By being strategic with your shopping and making smart choices, you can enjoy a delicious sub without breaking the bank.

Footlong Ingredients

This is where you can get creative when choosing your ingredients. For my family in particular we use the fresh baked French bread from the Walmart bakery. It is $1.00, always and baked to perfection! We are pretty simple and only use mayonnaise, you can absolutely add mustard, Italian dressing, a vinaigrette, etc…. Like I said you can be creative! Depending on our mood we will use Salami and Ham, sometimes we’ll make it Italian and use Salami, Pepperoni and Ham. It is absolutely up to you! Or if you’re making for a crowd make a few different varieties. We also prefer to use sliced Mozzarella to top our meat. If I am making for a group I will make one with Swiss and Pepper jack. The possibilities are endless. I top it all with thinly sliced Iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced red onion, and sliced banana peppers. I put them all on the side for adding in as we eat. Often the toppings can get soggy if added when the sandwich is made.

Assembling the Sub

Now that you have chosen all your ingredients for your flavor-packed footlong sub, it’s time to assemble. Start by laying out your freshly baked bread slicing in half horizontally, make sure to keep the plastic bag it came in with the bread tie (I’ll explain). I like to do this on a large cutting board. I leave it on the cutting board with both halves side by side. I spread mayo on both halves and layer with the meats and cheeses. I don’t add the veggies at this point. I put the top half of the bread onto the meats and cheeses and go ahead and slice the bread into pieces for eating. Once it is all sliced into the sizes, here is the explanation, I like to put the sandwich slices back in the bag for serving when we are ready. I put the sandwich in the refrigerator to chill. For instance in the summer I like to make this up in the morning and get it chilled. At lunch time or when we are hungry, we will grab a slice out of the bag and add the toppings I prepared and put aside (also in the refrigerator). If it is just the 3 of us we can usually have it for a couple lunches and snacks in between.

Enough for a Crowd

If you’re planning to serve up your flavor-packed footlong sub to a crowd, there are a few key tips to keep in mind. Consider making a variety of subs with different fillings to cater to different tastes. Additionally, I like to have all the veggies and a selection of condiments on the side allowing guests to customize their subs to their liking. Being real simple I will often just have a few bags of chips for a side. If I want to get fancy I will make a macaroni or potato salad. By keeping these simple strategies in mind, you’ll be well-prepared to enjoy your easy, no-cook meal with friends and family.

Enjoy Your Easy No Cook Meal
